Epiphone sweetwater

By GralstJanuary 18 in Epiphone Acoustics. I am very much a realist and have extremely small expectations but what say you? Is it a decent little sofa guitar I can strum on while watching TV or take out on the boat or to the beach or maybe camping?

Is the sound respectable or thin and tinny? I'm just very curious because I didn't really buy myself anything for Christmas and this fits the bill price-wise and although I need another acoustic guitar like I need a STD it looks like it might be fun. Good or bad? Let's hear ya. I just looked it up at Sweetwater. The solid spruce top on the Sweetwater offer is a plus.

The original 60s Caballeros were ladder braced rather than X braced. X braced guitars have a deeper tone and higher volume than ladder braced guitars. As a result, ladder braced guitars have more of a specialty preference than X bodied guitars. I do find, however, that I rarely play the ladder braced ones at gigs or at jams, because they are quieter.

I got through the gig using the neck pickup. It was my slide guitar for the night. Called Sweetwater, and they issued me a return label without argument and asked me if I wanted another one.

I decided no, send me a Hercules three-guitar stand instead. Sure, I could have taken it to my tech or possibly fixed it myselfbut by then, I had determined that the guitar was a POS that never should have been purchased in the first place. You guys who bought these guitars; how do you feel now that the honeymoon is probably over?

DrumBobNov 2, Nov 2, 2. Messages: 4, I'm curious to know what was good about it prior to the issue? I'd like to play one just for kicks. They seem kinda fun and funky. Maybe a good project guitar if you need a test bed for trying out mods, fret leveling, etc?

Wondering if the difference pickups, yes? I would not be comfortable ordering from Amazon Who knows what kind of shenanigans you'd be looking at with Amazon.

Epiphone Masterbilt Frontier Acoustic-electric Guitar Demo

This is actually a proposed b-day gift from my non-playing but supportive wife. I told her this morning to hold off on ordering anything - I'll call Sweetwater. I'd really like to play one of these things first, but there don't appear to be any in my state. Understand your concern about Amazon vs Sweetwater My buddy, and band mate for many years has owned 2 of them Pro He sold the first one, and immediately regretted it.

Soon bought another. He's had probably over guitars pass thru his hands. He loves these. Out of the box, new they probably need a setup, just like any new guitar, but once that is done and done right. You will be off like a herd of turtles.

6 Epiphone acoustics already slashed in Sweetwater's Black Friday sale

Very nice guitars! Epi has stepped up their game in the last half a dozen years. I've been buying from sweetwater for the better end of a decade now. They rock it every time. Stuart Niven has been my go to guy. At 53 I feel like a youngster round here. About a year ago I bought a Pro from Thomann in Germany the biggest online instrument dealer in Europe. When it arrived it had serious fret buzz so I took it to my luthier for a set up. Turns out that the neck was twisted like a washcloth that has been rung out!

I got straight on to Thomann who could not have been more accommodating and facilitated the return and a replacement within 5 days. The new guitar had obviously been taken out of the box and was perfectly setup. All of which was a hassle but I suspect would have been a lot worse had I been dealing with Amazon. I confess that I'm more of an acoustic guy especially since I bought a Martin recently but I've had a lot of fun with my Pro and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Whatever you and your good lady decide on I wish you many happy hours of playing and a very happy 60th birthday! They set up guitars really well before shipping, so unless you prefer a really different setup, you're likely to be happy with the guitar right out of the box.

And the standard ES Pro has humbuckers with controls that allow you to cancel one coil form each pickup, so you can play it as either single-coils or humbuckers or even one of each. Versatility is a good thing! The coil splits do add some more textures for sure. I'm not quite sure the will do what a set of P90s would do. P90s are pretty raw and powerful sounding, and they are noisy, but yea, still.

The pro-buckers in full on mode are really nice sounding PAF style pickups. Good output, but not so much to kill the tone. The more Henries the pickups push out, usually they start to fall off the scale in the "tone" department. I like what these do in My shearton.Epiphone Guitars. Plek'd Epi Les Pauls from Sweetwater?

Messages: Likes Received: I play with very light touch and low action and think it is worth it for the admittedly incremental difference in feel and speed. BiddlinSep 2, Messages: 5 Likes Received: 9. Messages: 2, Likes Received: 1, Welcome Johnny I do think the higher end epis tend to come with better fret setup.

I have 4 Epi SGs and a Sorrento, and only sorrento was perfect in terms of fretwork when it showed up. Both 50th anniversary P90s needed some work one had two frets popped up, the other just needed a bit of levelling. The G Pro was closest to perfect. But I bought it to learn on so it got the frets levelled anyway, there were a few slightly high ones. Out of those, the Sorrento was definitely sold as the highest end of them all. But the thing about a plek machine is that it's SUPPOSED to be able to do the absolutely minimum needed to level the frets, this saving fret wear from being dressed by some rank amateur, like myself.

However, I don't really like the tall frets stock on an Epi, so lowering them a few thousandths is fine by me. ScottMarloweSep 9, Biddlin likes this.
